The creators of Waze, a popular navigation and traffic application for the iPhone, have recently released an application for Android. You may have already seen Waze's interactive map that shows you which roads to avoid or which roads are likely to be worst affected by roadworks. This new Android app is just as impressive and will show you the same information and more. Unfortunately, the new app for Android does not look as good as the iPhone version, but that's because of its design. The web application has been updated to use Android's webView (similar to the web browser from the latest version of IOS) instead of the usual Android browser. It has no such capability as of yet and will need to be updated to work properly on Android.
Still, Waze for Android is easy to use. You can find directions to places in Waze's "Driving" tab, and Waze's Android application displays what you're seeing on your iPhone screen and updates accordingly. You can also find out which routes are most popular and if you can save money by avoiding routes with high traffic. This free download is available to download now. If you have questions about the application, you can contact Waze for Android through their website.
If you do not like the free version, Waze has an upgraded version with more features. All new users can download it at no cost and then upgrade to the paid version for $4.99. To go into their privacy policy and read what they collect from you, just Google the phrase. Waze for Android also works with Waze's webRTC technology to integrate their "services" and this opens up a whole new world of possibilities.
